Stellar Blade

Client: SONY Playstation
Service: Art Direction, Creative
Studio: ICHI

Overview

From port to cultural moment.

Following our collaboration on the release of Stellar Blade on PS5 Sony Interactive Entertainment and Korean developer Shift Up partnered with ICHI to reposition the game’s PC launch as much more than a port. The goal was to make it a cultural moment, something PC gamers would want to be part of.

To achieve this, we leaned into the mindset and expectations of the PC audience.

These players pride themselves on visual fidelity, personalisation, and community-driven experiences. With this in mind, we shaped a creative strategy built around cultural momentum, artistry, and technical prowess. Across four months, we developed a suite of trailers, social-first assets, and a digital toolkit, all tailored for the PC gaming community.

Alongside the trailers, we built a modular digital toolkit spanning static and video formats, each adapted for pre-order and launch phases.

Photo Mode Trailer

A distinctly different take on a ‘video game trailer’. Composed entirely of in-game photo mode footage, edited to Mozart’s Lacrimosa, it stripped away the fast-paced chaos of most trailers to let the game’s visuals speak for themselves. A showcase of pure aesthetics in 4K 120fps, it positioned the PC version as a visual flex.

Ladder Trailer

The Ladder Trailer was short, self-aware, and built for social. It reimagined the game’s most viral moment on social media, Eve’s ladder slide, as a call-back but this time in PC-level resolution. It was designed to be both fan service and an invitation to meme-literate newcomers curious to join the community.

PC Launch Trailer

A trailer designed to feel like a celebration: fast, cinematic, and unapologetically stylish. Set to an operatic track from the game, the trailer showed off Stellar Blade’s movement, combat, and customisation through rhythmically timed costume transitions and kinetic edits.

Motion Comic

Originally created for console audiences, we developed a teaser that repositioned it as the game’s narrative prologue. The piece opened with an RGB-lit gaming setup before transitioning into the comic’s world, subtly tying together real-world hardware, game narrative, and comic book influences

Impact

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Social engagement was strong across all assets, with fans praising… Most importantly, the work helped reframe Stellar Blade on PC not as a secondary release, but as a definitive edition worthy of celebration: an encore.
